As a trusted advisor, David focuses on providing affordable estate planning for families with children and creative legal planning solutions for businesses. David helps protect the intellectual property (e.g. copyright, trademarks, trade secrets) interests of creative professionals (e.g. writers, composers, performing and visual artists & business owners), and sings their praises when appropriate of a trusted advisor and a zealous advocate.
David received his Juris Doctorate with high honors (magna cum laude) from South Texas College of Law in Downtown Houston. Before law school, David performed professionally as a singing actor, and received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a minor in Music Cognition, as well as the Arts Leadership Program Certificate, from the Eastman School of Music; University of Rochester.
David's estate planning practice includes child protection planning, wills, trusts, estates, estate administration, probate, power of attorney, medical power of attorney. David's business practice includes drafting contracts and business documents needed to set up a corporation, limited liability corporations and/or a partnership, and working with the business or start-up company to insure the corporate veil stays in tact and growth is continued without risk of a lawsuit.
David's civil litigation practice includes commercial litigation (e.g. breach of contract), personal injury (e.g. car & 18-wheeler wrecks, slip and fall, and wrongful death, etc.) and mass tort litigation cases (3M earplugs). David helps individuals and businesses seek compensation for physical and economic injuries in both federal and state lawsuits, as well as mass tort settlement programs.
David has experience in all stages of litigation, from the initial consultation to successfully arguing important motions before the Court. David has drafted pleadings, motions, and discovery requests, briefed jurisdictional and procedural issues, taken depositions and defended deponents, and has worked on appeallate briefs submitted to the Fifth Circuit.
David is a proud member of the Texas Bar College, an honorary society of lawyers who are among the best trained attorneys in Texas. David is a member of Wealth Counsel, a nationwide network of attorneys dedicated to providing sophisticated and excellent service in today’s dynamic legal environment. David is also a member of many bar associations, including the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Houston Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.
When David is not serving clients, he is either spending quality time with his wife & baby OG, teaching piano & voice, or listening to vinyl while writing for his blawg "the Singing Lawyer."
